SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS AS PROGRESS INDICATOR

On the 25-th of September, 2015, the United Nations General Assembly approved the document “Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. The adopted document contains 17 specific sustainable development goals (SDGs) aimed at ensuring sustainable development of the humankind. Each of the 17 goals is represented by specific targets (totally 169 targets) to be solved during the period from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2030. This requires creation of national mechanisms to meet the objectives and to achieve the SDGs. At the present time active work on implementation of the SDGs in the Republic of Belarus is underway at the state level. The article summarizes the specific actions undertaken in this direction within the national framework. In addition, a specific list of targets (13) is provided for achieving Goal 3 “Ensuring a healthy life style and promoting well-being for everyone at any age” focused mainly on improving the public health and the healthcare system performance.
