HIV INFECTION AND ANTIRETROVIRAL AGENTS. Part II

The review considers clinical and pharmacological characteristics of four groups of antiretroviral agents used to treat HIV-infected patients. Pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties, side effects, indications and contraindications for use of protease inhibitors, integrase inhibitors, fusion inhibitors, chemokine receptor antagonists as well as mechanisms of development of drug resistance of HIV and principles of modern highly active antiretroviral therapy are described in the article.
