Childish cerebral palsy (CP) is a symptomatic complex of motor disorders that result from central nervous system damage in the pre- and perinatal periods often combined with mental deficiency and speech impairment. The traditional rehabilitation methods aimed at stimulating the CP child’s psychosocial capabilities and motor function sare symptomatic. It is possible to influence the pathogenesis of this disease with modern stem cell techniques.
Objective. The aim of this study was to assess the dynamics of the motor and mental development of children who underwent the mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) two-stage allotransplantation and full rehabilitation course.
Materials and methods. Twenty four children diagnosed CP and demonstrating the gait disturbance spastic nature including eight children exposed to the MSC treatment and undergone rehabilitation courses and sixteen patients undergone rehabilitation courses only. Methods of computed video analysis of gait and stabilometry were used to study the patients’ statokinetic and static parameters. While being examined, a speech therapist and a psychologist evaluated the dynamics of the mental and speech development of children.
Results. The analysis of the obtained results showed that the patients who had been exposed to the MSC transplantation had 2.3 times higher results of the motor function dynamics and 1.9 times better dynamics of the mental and speech development in comparison with the patients who had not undergone the MSC transplantation.
Conclusion. The MSC transplantation had be noted to be safe for treating patients with CP.Ключевые слова:
