IMPORTED CASES OF DENGUE FEVER IN THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS

Objective. To conduct a comprehensive analysis of the imported cases of the disease caused by Dengue virus in Minsk for the period of 2013—2017.

Materials and methods. Clinical observation, molecular diagnostic studies of blood samples of four patients suspected to have been infected with Dengue virus and hospitalized to the Municipal Infectious Clinical Hospital were carried out in addition to the routine general clinical tests of blood and feces, blood parasitic tests, and serological tests aiming at identification of the Dengue virus RNA.

Results. The Dengue virus fever (DVF) diagnosis caused by the second and third serotypes, has been confirmed in all the patients examined.

Conclusion. To confirm the diagnosis of DVF detection and differentiation, the Dengue virus RNA in the biological material during the disease acute phase (the first 5 days from the clinic appearance) by the polymerase chain reaction is required along with epidemiological prerequisites (stay in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world), nonspecific clinical symptoms, and intoxication signs.
