The results of comparing polymorphic variants of the GSTM1, GSTT1, GSTP1 genes and clinical symptoms of the lung non-small cell cancer allowing predict the disease manifestation character are presented. The GSTТ1(del) genotype was found to be associated with the lung squamous carcinoma development (OR=2.54 CI: 1.13—5.72; р=0.035). When the survival rates of patients (n=173) with various histological types of the lung cancer had been analyzed, the patients suffering from the lung squamous carcinoma (n=91) having the GSTТ1(del) genotype demonstrated a reliably higher survival median than that in the patients having the GSTТ1(+) — 84 months (95% CI 12.4—155.7) and 35 months (95% CI 25.2—46.8, p=0.045), respectively. At the same time, in the group of patients suffering from adenocarcinoma (n=82), the survival median of the patients having the GSTТ1(del) genotype was 19 months (95% CI 6.2—33.5) and that of the patients having the GSTТ1(+) genotype was 67 months (95% CI 50.1—84.0) giving grounds for continuing the comparison in an additional group of patients as no reliability had been achieved in the sampling (p=0.12). One may suppose that those differences can be caused by the gender differences in the groups of patients suffering from the lung squamous carcinoma and adenocarcinoma and the GST enzymes participation in the estrogens metabolism in case of women’s adenocarcinoma and a different hormonal status and reactivity of the male organism in case of the lung squamous carcinoma. Future studies and the results analyses will be directed at the hypothesis proving.
