ETIOTROPIC THERAPY OF CHRONIC URETHRA PROSTATITIS COMBINED WITH UROGENITAL INFECTION

Objective. To analyze the outcomes of treating patients with chronic urethroprostatitis (CUP) combined with urogenital infection.

Materials and methods. One hundred and fifty patients suffering from relapsing urethroprostatitis associated with concomitant urogenital (chlamydial, trichomonadal, herpes virus) infection identified by profound laboratory tests were examined. The control group was formed of 45 patients with CUP performed conventional bacteriologic tests and administered antibiotic therapy.

Results. The complex step-by-step therapy developed included administration of etiotropic agents (antiviral, antiprotozoal, and antichlamydial antibiotics) combined with local therapy. The results of the therapy developed and of the antibacterial therapy prescribed taking into account the standard bacteriologic tests data were analyzed and the urethroprostatitis relapses were found to occur during a year 2.8 times rarer in the basic group than in the control group.

Conclusion. The complex etiotropic therapy was more efficient than the conventional CUP antibiotic therapy allowing recommend it for clinical use.
