ORBIT MEDICAL IMAGING IN THE NORM AND IN CASE OF TRAUMATIC INJURIES AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE IN PLANNING SURGICAL INTERVENTION

The article provides an analysis of leading scientific articles on the orbit traumatic injuries published for the last
15 years. Face injuries, according to the WHO data, are about 40% of all types of injuries. The visual organ injuries account for about 20% of eye pathology. Due to the anatomical features of the eye socket, patients often need to be supervised by the related specialists: ophthalmologists, maxillofacial surgeons, otolaryngologists, neurosurgeons whose actions are usually not coordinated by the surgical intervention time and volume leading to the post-traumatic deformations development, severe mental disorders, and social maladjustment. Actually, there is a number of controversial issues regarding the injured patients treatment. Careful planning of the operation is possible only after a detailed assessment of the MSCT of the orbits together with the radiologist (calculation of the orbit anatomical and topometric characteristics) and the correct choice of the operation technique and implant thus ensuring good aesthetic and functional results.
