AUTOLOGOUS MESENCHYMAL STEM CELLS APPLICATION FOR FULL-THICKNESS KNEE CARTILAGE INJURIES TREATMENT

Objective. To study the effectiveness of autologous mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) application for full-thickness knee cartilage injuries restoration.

Materials and methods. The results of full-thickness knee articular cartilage injuries treatment were studied. In the main group, we used the developed method of MSC surgical transplantation, in the comparison group — the traditional method of bone marrow stimulation. The clinical dynamics and the cartilage regenerate conditions according to MRI data were studied.

Results. The persistent pain reduction and the clinical score according to the Lysholm scale improvement have been established. MRI shows a better quality of the regenerative tissue after the MSC transplantation than after a bone marrow stimulation.

Conclusion. The developed surgical method appears safe and effective.
