Acquired benign bowel strictures can occur in a variety of conditions, Crohn’s disease is the most common. The disease diagnosis is especially difficult when localized in the small intestine. Treatment with mesenchymal multipotent stem cells (MMSC) is a promising area, especially for steroid- and bioresistant patients. The stricturing form of Crohn’s disease is poorly amenable to conservative therapy and dictates the need for various forms of surgical interventions.
On the basis of modern literature data, this article addresses these issues.
