For timely diagnosis of malignant head and neck tumors the program has been developed. It aims at increasing of accessibility, quality and optimization of oncological care delivery. It defines preventive services, early diagnosis, routing patients at different levels of healthcare delivery. The developed program has been tested as a pilot project in the Slavgorod district of the Mogilev region.
Trough 6 months (from April 1 to September 30, 2021) general practitioners and medical workers surveyed
2,783 people and examined 2,530 people (40.60 and 36.91% respectively of the number of people in the target group subject to preventive inspections). The results of the pilot project demonstrated the effective work of the general practitioner: in 77 (98.8%) of 82 patients of the target group pathologic processes were identified, including 5 (6.1%) cases of malignant head and neck tumors. Questioning and examinations of the target population groups contributed to an increase in the number of detected premalignancies by 2 times, and also made it possible to identify malignant head and neck tumors among the target group in 6.1% of cases.
The implementation of the program will increase the detection of tumors of all stages in the first years and the number of detected premalignancies, the timely surgical treatment of which will lead to a decrease in the cases of malignant head and neck tumors.
