SUTURAL INTRAOCULAR LENS REPOSITION TO IRIS

Objective. The aim of the study was to analyze the results of surgical treatment of patients having been treated at Department of Eye Microsurgery No. 2 of Minsk City Clinical Hospital No. 10 for 2018-2019 with the IOL dislocation by its reposition to the iris.

Material and methods. Twenty five persons (25 eyes) with IOLs dislocation grade I – II aged 54 to 80 years (14 men and 11 women) were under observation. Those patients were implanted IOLs during phacoemulsifications including Alcon IQ in 11 eyes, Alcon SA60AT in 9 eyes, Envista MX60 in 5 eyes. The implantations were performed 5 ± 2.4 years ago. All the patients were examined by the major ophthalmologic methods: visometry, biomicroscopy, autorefractometry, tonometry, macula optical coherent tomography, ultrasonic biomicroscopy, epithelial cells count, ultrasonic A- and B-scanning, retina electrophysiological examinations.

Results. The patients had been surveyed for 1 week to 18 months after the IOL repositions. The vision acuity had improved in the postoperative period in every patient. Neither IOL dislocation nor decentralization was observed as well as no retina or vitreous body associated complications or suture cutting were registered within the observation period.

Conclusion. The technique allowed minimize the risk for intra- or postoperative complications reducing the surgical rehabilitation functional effect. The dynamic evaluation of the clinic-functional results and the corneal endothelium state in 12 months showed the surgical procedure advantages were the following: safety (the corneal endothelial cells loss 7.4% of the initial level), low values of the induced corneal astigmatism as well as a high and stable vision effect.
