CLINICAL LABORATORY CHARACTERISTICS OF COVID-19 INFECTION IN PATIENTS WITH HEMATO-ONCOLOGICAL DISEASES

This study presents and analyzes the clinical and laboratory data of 80 patients with oncohematological pathology and COVID-19 infection. In the result of the analysis of the prospective group, it was found out that COVID-19 infection is most often associated with multiple myeloma — 27.5% and acute leukemia — 26.3% of cases.

In 74% of patients with oncohematological pathology COVID-19 infection was severe or extremely severe. The lethality in the study group was 48%. Patients with a poor outcome at the onset of COVID-19 infection had higher values of the concentration of C-reactive protein (median 90.9 g/L versus 30 g/L; p=0.023), procalcitonin (0.07 ng/ml versus 0.3 ng/ml; p=0.004) and indicators of renal function: urea (p=0.00014) and creatinine (p=0.008). ARDS (31%) and sepsis (18%) predominated in the spectrum of fatal complications of COVID-19 infection in hematological cancer patients.
